![]() ![]() Whatever that and the rest of the analog bits of the Future Factory are, they are likely responsible for the general tone quality of the repeats, which is going to separate it from other delay units sonically. I'm guessing the Free the Tone delays might have something unique (if not necessarily based on 2290 circuitry) here as well. The 2290 has a very unique 'over-sampling' in its design that preserves transients well. I have not compared any Free the Tone delay to a 2290 rack, but they (Flight Time delays) are said to be somewhat similar. The other element is the proprietary hardware, which is the complete topology of the pedal including the analog input and output sections, use of DSP (or not) on the delay line, and possibly the sampling architecture. In general, the phase of a low frequency oscillator (LFO) used in most modulation circuits changes regularly at a preset cycle. The concept for this is roughly similar to the Pigtronix Echolution 2 which also does not offer different algorithms but rather, many options available on a single algorithm (if you want to call it that.the use of DSP would be minimal or at least different than Strymon, Eventide, Source Audio, etc.) The Future Factory has different options than the Echolution 2 but really is the same concept. RF PHASE MODULATION stands for RANDOM FLUCTUATING PHASE MODULATION, which utilizes a special fluctuating modulation developed exclusively by Free The Tone.
